Free ToolHashtag Counter & Limit Checker

Freehashtag counterand limit checker.

Paste a caption and see how many hashtags it carries, which ones repeat or won't link, and whether it clears each network's rules — including Instagram's five-hashtag cap introduced in December 2025. Free, instant, and runs entirely in your browser.

LIVE COUNTER

Count your hashtags against every network's rules

Paste the whole caption, hashtags included. The counter separates unique tags from repeats, flags tags that won't become links, and checks the total against each platform's published limit.

Instagram

0 / 5
Within the cap — hard limit on posts and Reels since December 2025

Instagram capped posts and Reels at five hashtags in December 2025, down from thirty. Its own framing: tags help search, not reach — a few precise ones beat a long generic list.

Threads

0 / 1
Within the cap — one topic tag per post

Threads uses topic tags rather than hashtags, and allows exactly one per post.

YouTube

0 / 60
Within the cap — above 60, every hashtag on the video is ignored

Up to three hashtags show above the title; past 60 in the description YouTube ignores all of them.

TikTok

no cap
2,200 characters left

No published hashtag cap — they share the 2,200-character caption budget with your copy.

X / Twitter

no cap
280 characters left

No published cap, but every hashtag spends part of the 280-character post.

LinkedIn

no cap
3,000 characters left

No published cap. LinkedIn's own guidance favours a small, specific set over a long list.

Bluesky

no cap
300 characters left

No published cap; hashtags count against the 300-character post like any other text.

The same tag block no longer fits everywhere

A thirty-hashtag block that was standard on Instagram until December 2025 now breaks its five-tag cap, is twenty-nine tags past what Threads accepts, and can spend more characters than a Bluesky post has in total. AnySync writes a per-platform tag set sized to each network from a single upload, so one caption doesn't have to satisfy seven sets of rules.

HOW IT WORKS

Check any hashtag block in three steps.

>_STEP 01

Paste your caption

Drop in the full caption with its tags. Nothing is uploaded — the parsing runs entirely in your browser.

>_STEP 02

See what actually counts

Unique tags, repeats, digits-only tags that won't link, stray hash symbols, and the characters the block spends.

>_STEP 03

Check every platform's cap

Instagram's five, Threads' one topic tag, YouTube's sixty-hashtag cutoff — plus the character budgets that act as the real limit elsewhere.

GO FURTHER

One tag block can't satisfy seven rulebooks.

This counter tells you where a caption breaks a rule. AnySync writes a caption that never does.

Per-platform tag sets

AnySync generates a tag set sized to each network from one upload, instead of pasting the same block everywhere.

Always inside the cap

Captions are generated to fit each platform's current limits, so posts don't get truncated or tags silently ignored.

Written in your voice

Brand voice and workspace settings shape the copy, so the tags read as part of the caption rather than a block bolted on the end.

Hashtag counter questions

How many hashtags can you use on Instagram in 2026?

+

Five. Instagram announced on 19 December 2025 that it would limit the number of hashtags you can include in a caption for a post or Reel to five, down from the long-standing thirty, and rolled it out gradually from there. It is a cap on what you can put in the caption, not a reach penalty for going over — and Instagram's own framing is that tags help search rather than reach, so a few precise ones beat a long generic list. Many hashtag tools still quote the old thirty.

How many hashtags does Threads allow?

+

One. Threads uses topic tags rather than hashtags and permits exactly one per post, deliberately, to keep topic feeds from being flooded.

Is there a hashtag limit on YouTube?

+

Yes. Up to three hashtags from the description appear above the video title, and if a video or playlist carries more than 60 hashtags, YouTube ignores every hashtag on it.

Do TikTok, X, LinkedIn, and Bluesky have hashtag limits?

+

None of them publish a hard hashtag cap. The real constraint is the character budget — hashtags spend the same 280 characters on X, 300 on Bluesky, 2,200 on TikTok, and 3,000 on LinkedIn that your copy does, which the counter tracks.

Why is one of my hashtags flagged?

+

Tags made only of digits aren't linkable on Instagram or X, repeated tags spend characters without adding reach, and a hash symbol not followed by a letter, number, or underscore never becomes a link at all.

Is this hashtag counter free?

+

Yes. It's free, needs no sign-up, and runs entirely in your browser — your caption never leaves your device.
